dachshund playing fetch

I’ve been trying my dogs to fetch for quite a while now, and getting nowhere. Either they ignore the ball, as they know I have a treat or they get the ball and then hide it from me. That’s why I really like the video of this cute dachshund: he does it all on his own! (video after the jump)

5 Golden rules for Getting a second dog

   Posted by: admin

You´ve got one lovely dog and you´re ready for more. A second dog can be a great companion for your first dog, and of course, dogs are so much fun, having two will be twice the fun, right? Well, they can be, if you stick to these rules…

I know, I know, they´re so adorable, with those big eyes in that tiny little face and especially as puppies they are hard to resist. I love my dog, so I totally get it. Still, take a moment to think before you embark (pun intended!) on this longterm commitment.

6 Things you should consider before you decide to own a tiny dog:

Are you sure?

Even though they´re tiny, they take up just as much time and energy as a big dog!

Do you have the time to invest in raising a dog?

Take your time. If, say, your best friend or your son came home from a first date and told you they were getting married, you´d tell them to take a bit longer to think about it, right? Well, it´s like that with dogs: you don´t just jump in because you saw a cute puppy. You need to think about it first.

Do you have room enough in your house? A tiny dog doesn´t take up much space in theory, but they too have a lot of stuff, bowls, a crate, toys, and if you´re living in a tiny studio flat, it can get crowded!

The season. You will have to stand around outside a lot and in winter it just sucks. If you can, get your puppy in spring or summer! (I wish someone had pointed this out to me! I really did not enjoy standing around in sleet)

Are you really, really sure?
Then go out and find yourself a dog!
